Friday, April 2nd from 7 to 9 PM: THEOLOGICAL CHAT hosted by Reverend Mitra Rahnema and Adult RE Dir. Jill Crane. You are invited to the third of our series of casual theological chats. We will pose questions and ask you to discuss thoughts and experiences. Where on Earth Does Evil Come From? Have you ever experienced good and evil? What is the source of good and evil? Why do good people do bad things? Can evil people do good things? Does evolution or the natural world know good and evil? Is evil always intentional or selfish? Is the victim of evil always innocent? How do we even know what is evil and good? The premises of the discussion are as follows. (1) Whoever is there is supposed to be there, it is always a perfect group of people offering exactly what we need. (2) Whatever is said is supposed to be said, remember to both talk and listen. (3) Differences of opinion are to be engaged and also respected. Dialogue and debate with a loving heart. Good humor is welcome. (4) Sharing of your heart as well as keeping an open mind to multiple experiences is encouraged. (5) Laughter is a wonderful religious community activity! We look forward to seeing you there! Suggested refreshment donation -- $3 per person. Please sign up in the church foyer!

NEXT MOVIE NIGHT -- April 23rd, 6 PM in the Annex
Continuing with our Welcoming Congregation theme, our movie is a documentary called Before Stonewall. In 1969 the police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in NY City's Greenwich Village, leading to three nights of rioting by the city's gay community. With this outpouring of courage and unity the Gay Liberation Movement began. Before Stonewall pries open the closet door, setting free the dramatic story of the sometimes horrifying public and private existences experienced by gay and lesbian Americans since the 1920’s. Revealing and often humorous, this widely acclaimed film relives the emotionally-charged sparking of today's gay rights movement, from the events that led to the fevered 1969 riots to the many milestones in the brave fight for acceptance. Experience the fascinating and unforgettable decade-by-decade history of homosexuality through eye-opening historical footage and amazing interviews with those who lived through an often brutal closeted history. Narrated by Rita Mae Brown. This film is available through your local libraries. They will order it for you from around the metropolitan area. $8 per person, drinks, dinner and discussion. Sign up in foyer.
If you need child care for any of the above events, please sign up for it when you sign up for the event and also let Julie Artis in the RE Wing know.
